The African-American born singer “Doblx” decided to enhance his music career by learning Spanish and creating Latin music such as salsa, reggaeton and bachata. His newest single “Hoy”, is a fusion of African Tribal Voices and Traditional Salsa Music.
MIAMI, FL, September 27, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — The American singer-songwriter and producer Leo Wilson, known artistically as Doblx has been studying salsa music carefully to create his newest salsa song entitled “Hoy”. The musical artist does not have Latin blood, his family is African-American, but with perseverance and enthusiasm, he has learned to speak Spanish. Doblx moved to Medellin, Colombia in 2018 after obtaining a visa allowing him to live and conduct business in the country. Originally born in Detroit, Michigan, the singer never stayed in one location moving to Atlanta in 2010 and then to Miami in 2017.
When asked; why did you choose Colombia? The singer responded; “I was lost! I have been making music since 2005 but felt like I was missing something. Fascinated by the Latin culture and music, I decided to learn Spanish and what better place to learn than Colombia!? I mean, Nicky Jam moved to Medellin and found his new sound which made him a star! Why not me? Besides, I really enjoy the music of J Balvin and Maluma both whom are from Medellin. For me, this was perfect! Though I had very little money when I left to start a new life in another country, something drew me there, like it was my destiny.”
He found inspiration for his new single through a web series posted by Marc Anthony that gave him a glimpse into the musical process of Marc Anthony and Sergio George. With a limited budget, Doblx managed to record and produce this entire song at his home in Miami, FL playing each instrument and writing the lyrics with the help of his Colombian-born wife.
In the official music video of the release, it shows the beautiful landscapes of Kenya, Africa and the African people. These visual aspects complement the song as it features beautiful and harmonious voices of the African tribes of Malawi, perfectly fused together with traditional salsa music. The singer has not only created an inspirational song that will shock the Latin community, but also a cultural movement that shows we are all human no matter where we are from and music is the universal language. The lyrics (in Spanish) speaks about forgetting your problems for one day, today, and enjoy life!
Doblx has also started a fundraiser on his official Youtube Artist Channel to help African children live a better life and most importantly, enjoy their lives! The fundraiser is collected by the non-profit organization “Back To Africa” and all donated proceeds go directly to the cause.
