DFW Elite Toy Museum dubbed the “Fort Knox of Toys” by American Pickers on the History Channel
HALTOM CITY, TX, April 13, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — Filled with automobile memorabilia and rare toys and art from the Victorian period to the turn of the century and beyond, the DFW Elite Toy Museum is arguably one of the best in America. When featured on the History Channel’s American Pickers show last year, the museum was dubbed the “Fort Knox of Toys” and described as having a “mind-blowing” collection of high-end items on display.
Entrepreneur Ron Sturgeon began collecting automobile memorabilia and vintage toys more than four decades ago. When he first started the collection, he focused specifically on Mercedes toys, then moved on to rare and vintage automobile-themed items such as race cars and open cars. He has since amassed a wide variety of auto memorabilia and an impressive collection of vintage and antique toys.
A current exhibition at the museum entitled “Dogs in Art, Toys and Antique” includes some of the most iconic dog themed European and American paintings, along with sculptures and vintage/antique toys from around the world. The museum also boasts one of the largest collections of Tippco die cast toys, including the very rare Eva Braun Mercedes toy.
The DFW Elite Toy Museum is currently listed in the DFW guidebook entitled 100 Things to Do in DFW Before You Die. When featured on FOX 4 in 2015, the museum was described as a “quirky place filled with rare and antique treasures” and reported to be a Lone Star Adventure destination that was “well worth the effort.”
Located at 5940 Eden Drive in Haltom City, TX, the museum open to the public Monday through Friday and on most Saturdays. Admission is free and guided tours are available by appointment for car clubs, church or social groups, retirement or assisted living facilities or other interested parties.
