Musiversal allows musicians and music producers to produce music ten times cheaper than industry norms; seed funding round will accelerate growth of music production as a service
LISBON, PORTUGAL, September 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — Musiversal, a global platform designed for making music creation and production more accessible to musicians and studio producers, has raised €1.36 million (1.6 million USD) in its seed financing round. The funding was led by Shilling, a venture capital firm, with participation of existing investors LC Ventures, REDangels, and Best Horizon.
In addition to the seed round, Musiversal also received €310,000 (366,000 USD) in funding from the Portugal 2020 Programme, with the support of FEDER/European Union, raising a total €2.51 million (2.96 million USD) to date. Musiversal will use the investment raised to accelerate its growth, with the goal to quadruple its number of users and make music recording more accessible and inexpensive.
Musiversal’s platform, Musiversal® studio, started in October 2020 while the music industry was facing an unprecedented crisis as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a monthly subscription, Musiversal allows musicians, producers, and sound engineers to collaborate in music recording sessions directly from home. In 2021, the platform reached the milestone of 3,000 recording sessions per month. By the end of 2021, the company aims to reach 100,000 studio sessions and hire 100 more musicians.
“Our users rate the sessions with five stars 98% of the times they have used Musiversal, meaning that we know we have created a subscription that is a success for songwriters and music producers,” said André Miranda, founder and CEO of Musiversal. “Now, our goal is to get more songwriters to try the service.”
Ricardo Jacinto, Partner at Shilling, added: “Musiversal is entering a new phase; this round will consolidate its growth and allow the startup to take advantage of the huge opportunity that arose with the pandemic, in order to facilitate access to music creation and production. We are very pleased to support such a dedicated team, with so much experience and a proven track record in such a short time of existence.”
Musiversal allows music creators to collaborate via live stream with professional musicians to record and produce songs. Musicians and producers participating in the sessions are part of the marketplace of the platform, which features world-class music professionals from around the world. Musiveral believes that a model that gives a fixed income to musicians, rather than a highly volatile one, is one of the keys to success for global expansion and attracting the best musicians to be available on the platform.
