Families of the battle group USS “TR” Theodore Roosevelt and others will receive turkeys and toys while spouses are sent out on deployment for the second time this year.
SAN DIEGO, CA, December 20, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ — The families of the battle group USS Theodore Roosevelt and other United States Navy carriers out to sea will receive some much-needed cheer this holiday from a San Diego community of former military dependents along with the USS MIDWAY Sailor Disabled Veteran-Owned H3 Heroes Helping Heroes 4Life, a San Diego grassroots Social Enterprise and nonprofit 501(c)3.
During the holidays this year, the San Diego military community is experiencing the separation of 24,000 Navy sailors from their families with 3 major battle groups, the USS Theodore Roosevelt, USS Carl Vinson, and USS Abraham Lincoln, out on deployment. H3 and its hometown community of military dependents are all-too-familiar with the experience of missing a loved one, especially over the holidays.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt has been through a particularly challenging year. In late March, while at sea on an 8-month deployment, an outbreak of COVID-19 led to the infection of 1,156 sailors, 3 hospitalizations, and 1 death, ultimately resulting in the captain being relieved of his command. After a brief return home in July, the TR has returned to a second deployment in a matter of only a few months in home port. These turn of events have made for a very difficult time of year for not only the sailors, but the thousands of their dependent spouses and children.
H3 is working to bring a little Christmas joy to the children and parents of our Navy families this holiday. Along with nonprofit partners SDCA (San Diego Community Assist) and Hugs and Bags, H3 Heroes Helping Heroes 4Life held a highly successful Thanksgiving Giveaway of 500 Turkeys and 1,500 Meals, and are happily working together again to raise enough money to give away 500 Toys and 500 Turkeys to the USS Theodore Roosevelt and other families of deployed service members, and to bring another 500 meals to homeless, veterans, 1st responders, and COVID impacted individuals.
I you have a family member aboard The USS Theodore Roosevelt and would like us to send out a message to your family member please reach out to us at https://www.facebook.com/H3HeroesHelpingHeroes4Life/ and we will pass the message on!
However, they can’t do it alone. The grassroots nonprofits are inviting Americans to show they CARE for our service members who sacrifice for our freedoms. For those that were once dependents and know the feeling of missing holidays with a loved one, H3 is calling on Americans to CARE about an American problem.
During these times of the coronavirus pandemic, the lives of many Americans have been disrupted by the loss of financial stability, physical health, and a positive mental outlook.
H3 Founder Mark George, the son of a Vietnam Veteran and proud USS Midway sailor himself, explains:
“The holidays are a difficult time for many people even without the pandemic, and will be even harder for those without their loved ones at home. H3 is offering Americans a way to help those in need during this giving season. Let’s Join Forces as Americans and CARE for our Military Families with a small donation to say Thank You for Serving.”
