High-definition, noise-cancelling truck scale intercom lets drivers and lane operators communicate with ease
NASHVILLE, TN, December 07, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — IntercomsOnline.com LLC, is doing its part to alleviate supply chain issues at all shipping ports in western United States using its high-definition audio truck scale intercom kit.
With so many ships anchored in the ocean waiting to be unloaded, the Ports in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Washington have a huge number of trucks arriving to transport cargo containers. This was creating a perpetual traffic jam of trucks waiting in line for hours.
When trucks pull into the port they are required to stop and talk to a lane operator who gives the driver information about where the container they are dropping off goes, or where to pick up a container or chassis for that container. These conversations can take up to three minutes so having a system that provides clear communication is imperative. Even once drivers are within the port, there are additional lanes that also need intercom communication. In fact, there are at least three lines to get a container in or out.
Says Tim Bruxvoort of IntercomOnline, “We found that one of our truck scale intercom kits fit their port communication needs perfectly. With a little trial and error, we came up with the perfect combination of products programmed in just the right way let both the truck drivers and the lane operators communicate clearly.”
The IntercomsOnline.com truck scale intercom system solves two problems. One is that the engine noise is usually transmitted to scale operators so they can’t understand what the driver is saying. The other is that the trucks are so loud that they drown out what the scale operators are saying. These problems are solved through a combination of Active Noise Cancellation to cancel out engine noise so scale operators can hear clearly, and a powerful amplifier to clearly transmit what the scale operators are saying to the drivers.
The system offers clear, high-definition audio on both sides and it uses full-duplex communication so no button pushes are required from the driver. For this port application, the lane operators are using headsets to communicate with the drivers since they are using the system all day long.
With as many as 14,000 trucks going through a single port every day, this system is solving one of the inefficiencies at US ports that has been a major headache for truck drivers. While these intercoms don’t solve all the problems experienced at the ports, they at least help cut down on the time trucks spend in long lines.
