The Virginia Women in Wine Trail is a Curated Route Through 50 Wineries, Cideries, and Meaderies Across the State

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, March 17, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — As Virginians take part in Women’s History Month celebrations across the state this March, the new Virginia Women in Wine Trail offers the chance to connect with the incredible women shaping the future of Virginia’s wine industry.

A project of the professional women’s organization Virginia Women in Wine, the Virginia Women in Wine Trail is a curated route through 50 wineries, cideries, and meaderies across the state, most of which are women-owned or employ women winemakers, vineyard staff, or tasting room educators. Visitors will explore, taste, and enjoy a variety of wines while experiencing the unique charm of the region. Over several weeks, guests can attend special events, tastings, and tours at each stop along the trail, making it a perfect way to discover the area’s women-in-winemaking culture.

Events are happening from March 14-31, 2025, in eight regions, including Northern Virginia, Central Virginia, Shenandoah Virginia, Hampton Roads/Coastal, Chesapeake Bay/Northern Neck, Blue Ridge Highlands, Virginia Mountains, and Southern Virginia.

Events include activities such as Female Favorites Flights, wine women dinners, vineyard tours, blending workshops, and behind-the-scenes talks, among others.

A Trail “wrap party” – the VWW Trailblazer Bash – is slated for March 29, 4-7PM, at Bluemont Vineyards in Northern Virginia, and will feature food, music, and wines from around Virginia. Also at the Bash: the presentation of three 2025 Trailblazer Awards to women who’ve had a significant impact as leaders in Virginia wine’s history, and the launch of VWW’s new report, Closing the Gender Gap in Winemaking, which examines why women make up only 17% of head winemaker jobs in Virginia and explores ways to close that gap.
