RALEIGH, NC, March 05, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — Racing for ALS announced today the addition of Lizz Updegraff to their leadership team in the role of their new director of philanthropic events.

Prior to joining with Racing for ALS, Updegraff spent many years forging a professional niche for herself in the charitable fundraising community. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to combine her love of philanthropy, event planning, motorsports marketing and hospitality to benefit Racing for ALS.

“I am incredibly honored to be working with the Racing for ALS team. After partnering with Scott on prior charitable events, I believe it just seemed like a natural next step to combine my incredible passion of developing and coordinating fundraising events and my love of motorsports with Racing for ALS,” stated Updegraff.

“Lizz is an amazing edition to our team that we know will help us expand our reach and increase our capabilities to fundraise for a cure and to help ALS patients working to fight this disease that is merciless. We are grateful to have her with us!” Scott Lloyd, Co-Founder and President of Racing for ALS!

Updegraff holds a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her graduate certificate in Digital Entrepreneurship through Strayer University.

About Racing for ALS:
Racing for ALS is a 501(c)3 charity located in Apex, NC, that was started by two brothers, David and Scott Lloyd. They started their fundraising efforts in June of 2018 after David Lloyd, Jr.’s ALS diagnosis at the end of 2017. Together with the Racing for ALS team, they have raised just under $350,000 in funds that have been given to ALS-TDI, a 501(c)3 Pharma company that operates 24/7 looking for a cure to ALS and to ALS patients directly in the form of grants and equipment to help them with the impacts of ALS on their lives.

“We at Racing for ALS share a passion for cars–Particularly fast ones. We’ve spent the last three years living our dream of racing cars together, even as ALS looms large in the rear view. Beyond the fun, friends and fellowship of the car community, our race has become a mission to raise funds and awareness for research and treatment of Motor Neuron Disease [ALS]. We pray that a cure lies just around the next curve and invite you to grid up and help us speed to the finish line. Horsepower can indeed heal.” — David Lloyd, Jr., ALS Patient and Racing for ALS Co-Founder & Board Member
